Our Congressman, Brian Bilbray, calls nuclear energy “one of the cleanest energy sources known to mankind”, possibly forgetting about the concentrated, toxic waste that is produced. See Bilbray’s Web Site for details. Yes, we need to solve pollution problems and end our reliance on imported oil, but it seems to me that long transmission lines (SDG&E) and nuclear plants (Bilbray) are solutions from the 1960s. I’d prefer to look forward to technologies like distributed generation, solar and wind (and who knows what is yet to come!) The US needs to step up and be the leader, not a follower. Come on Brian, let’s see some visionary thinking!
