I see in the UnionTribune this morning that the I-5/I-805 interchange work is completed and that lanes are scheduled to open early next week. We’ll have to see if Caltrans is smart enough to turn off the metering signals from SR-56 when the new lanes open. If they do, I suspect that many of the local headaches of the morning commute will be solved. (more…)

It must really be spring, we just found a couple of abandoned hummingbirds in our back yard. After going through the experience, I’d recommend that you immediately call the hummingbird rescue people, and not try to do this yourself! Read the whole post for contact information. (more…)

There was a burglary near my house today and I talked a bit with a detective on the scene. He suggested immediately reporting any suspicious behavior to the Police non-emergency number: 858-484-3154 or 619-531-2000. Note the City has web pages for Reporting Non-Emergencies and for Reporting Emergencies. If the crime is still in progress or you feel like the situation is dangerous, call 9-1-1. (more…)
