Summer is just about over and it’s time for school to start once again. All the public schools start on Monday, August 25. The Jewish Academy starts Wednesday, August 20, and Cathedral Catholic starts on Monday, August 25. In addition, all the fall sports are starting up, so the parks are full of soccer players and the cross country runners are out on the sidewalks. Please drive carefully and watch for children. You might want to avoid the Town Center at lunch hour, too (the high school students add to the parking woes of the center.)

Looking at the Del Mar TV Calendar, there will be a Powerhouse Park concert on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 PM. The concert will be a CSN&Y retrospective. This is a great way to relax and enjoy a sunset down by the beach, although it does get a bit crowded. If you have more of an athletic bent, the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau Calendar lists the La Jolla Rough Water Swim on September 7th. The swim includes 1 mile and 3 mile courses. You still have most of a month to train for the swim. Or, try the America’s Finest City Half Marathon this weekend (Sunday, August 17th).
