Police Contact Phone Numbers

Filed under: Community — ken @ 7:56 am

Officer Gaylon Sells reminds us about local police phone numbers:

I wanted to make sure everyone knows the proper number to call when you need to have an officer dispatched to investigate an incident. The proper number to call is 858-484-3154. This will connect you to our Communications Dispatch. What I am unfortunately experiencing is people are leaving messages on my direct line instead.

In addition, Officer Sells has also provided a police phone list. There is a quick link at the top-right on the main page, just in case you ever need it.

FAQ About the Boil Water Order

Filed under: Community, Entertainment — ken @ 7:20 pm

I finally found complete information on the Boil Water Order from the City, in the form of a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. The document includes instructions on what you can do with tap water, and what you need boiled water for (largely just eating, brushing teeth and washing fruits and vegetables). There’s also an updated UnionTribune Article with more information. Here’s the text of the document: (more…)

Lots of Press on the Water Issue

Filed under: Community — ken @ 10:41 pm

I see lots and lots of stories on our water issue, including the San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle and the Fresno Bee! Here are the better articles I’ve found:

It sound like the City hasn’t actually detected any bacteria in the water, the boil-water order is precautionary. Better safe than sorry.

Water Boiling for 72 Hours?

Filed under: Community — ken @ 4:09 pm

There appears to be a chance that the water boiling order will last for THREE DAYS (72 hours). Yuck. See the UnionTribune Story on Water Boiling for more information, including information on restaurant closures.

Lots of People Buying Bottled Water

Filed under: Community — ken @ 10:12 am

I’m told that there are lots of people buying bottled water at the grocery stores, but all is well because they have lots of water on the shelves. Remember that this is a very local issue. If your store is out of water, drive to Solana Beach or Penasquitos.

While you’re thinking about emergency water, what would you do if this was a county-wide problem and you couldn’t find water in the stores? Do you have enough emergency water to last you 3 or 4 days? I have 40 gallons in my garage, but I’ll have to admit that I haven’t changed it in quite a while… We should all use this event to update our emergency supplies.
