Every August, we have a bit of a lull in the community as families go on vacation and many groups cancel their meetings. I hope everyone is having a great summer and that you get an opportunity to relax before things pick up again in September.
The Surf Cup Soccer Tournament is back at the Polo Fields, July 25-27. Consider avoiding El Camino Real near Via de la Valle, as the traffic can be a mess…

Every year, the Carmel Valley Summer Concerts roll around but nobody has heard they’re starting. Well, here’s you’re chance to catch the first one! It’s THIS SUNDAY, July 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Solana Highlands Park (High Bluff Drive near Del Mar Heights Road.)
That’s right, the Carmel Valley Recreation Council is proud to announce the 2009 Summer Serenades Concert Series. Bring a blanket or low beach chairs, a picnic dinner and enjoy your evening!
- July 12 Solana Highlands Park Shockwaves (Rock and Roll, 60’s - Today!)
- July 19 Sage Canyon Park Corvettes (Best of the 50’s and 60’s)
- July 26 Solana Highlands Park Upstream (Reggae)
- August 2 Sage Canyon Park Atomic Groove (Variety Dance Band)
This is it, right now! Don’t miss your chance to enjoy these FREE Summer Concerts!

The local division of the San Diego Police Department will hold a forum to discuss community crime issues on Thursday, July 16 from 6:30 to 7:45 pm at the Carmel Valley Rec Center (3777 Townsgate Drive.)
