Filed under: Community — ken @ 4:26 pm

2010_winter_programUpdate: Page 6 of the program has changed, and the file has bee updated to reflect this. The CV Recreation Center winter program registration starts on Saturday, December 12 at 9:00 AM. Participants must meet age requirements, minors must be registered by a parent or legal guardian, etc. Note that many of the programs now offer mail-in or online registration through the contractor. See the CV Rec Center Page for more info, or the Winter 2010 Program Brochure (updated: new page 6) for complete details. If that doesn’t work, you can contact the City Staff at the Rec Center at 858-552-1616. Programs run by outside contractors have contact information listed in the program brochure.

Ocean Air Community Park Delayed

Filed under: Community, Park & Rec — ken @ 12:34 pm

Well, Ocean Air Community Park was supposed to be open now, but it seems that it’s stuck. There are two issues holding up the opening: work items remaining on the building, and City budget issues. It’s typical that a project this size has a number of work items that need to be finished before the City accepts the project from the contractor (the list of items is usually called the “Punch List.”) These items will get cleared up, and the City will eventually accept the project. The second issue could be the killer: does the City have the budget to operate this park? Given the cuts that are being discussed for the Parks Department, I’m not so sure.
