The Del Mar Highlands Town Center (www.delmarhighlandstowncenter.com) will hold its concerts on July 10, July 17, July 24 and July 31. Now on Saturday evenings, 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the amphitheater.

The Del Mar Powerhouse Park Concerts are on July 20 at 7:00 PM, August 17 at 7:00 PM, and September 12 at 5:00 PM.

Bright Horizons Preschool and Kindergarten (off Arroyo Sorrento Road, near Ruth’s Chris) is holding a FREE Child and Family Resource Fair on Sunday, July 25th from 10am to 4pm. The Annual Carmel Valley Summer Serenades concerts in the parks start this Sunday, June 27 at 5:00 PM at Sage Canyon Park. The complete schedule includes:

• July 18 Solana Highlands Park Corvettes (Best of the 50’s and 60’s)

The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board (CVCPB) will hold TWO special meetings on Wednesday, June 23 at the Carmel Valley Rec Center, 3777 Townsgate Drive, San Diego, 92130. These meetings both deal with the proposed Mixed Use Project by Kilroy Realty on the undeveloped site at the corner of Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real. The first meeting, at 4:00 PM, is a full board meeting to direct the Regional Issues Subcommittee to compose and deliver a comment letter on the draft Environmental Impact Report Scoping Comment Letter. Interested in what’s happening at the Carmel Valley Library? You can find some information at the CV Library Page, or directly view the CV Library Calendar. I see Yoga for Seniors, an ESL Class for Adults, the Chess Club, Story Times, and more. I also see a couple of Summer Program Shows on Wednesdays, and a Saturday Movie Matinee on June 26. I suspect the Youth Summer Reading Programs are just starting, but you’ll have to visit the library for information.

There is a proposal to house some of the new USMC F-35B Joint Strike Fighters at MIRAMAR. There will be a public input process that includes a meeting on June 15 and a website available with information and materials. The local public meeting will be held at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Branch Library on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The goal of the meeting is to allow the public to provide comment(s) on the proposed alternatives and inform community members about the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft in general. The meeting will be in an open house format and Department of the Navy representatives will be available at different informational displays to describe the proposal, EIS approach, and National Environmental Policy Act process.

The City of San Diego is holding a Scoping Meeting on the proposed project at the corner of Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real on 23.6 acres. The proposal is to create a mixed use project (commercial, hotel, residential, retail) on a site currently zoned for commercial only. The idea is to increase density on the site, but provide some benefit to the community. We, as a community, need to decide if the benefit outweighs the cost.
