The Carmel Valley Recreation Council meeting and the Carmel Valley North Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) Meetings for August have been canceled due to lack of agenda items. The next meetings of both groups will be on Tuesday, September 7 at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center.

If you’re interested in the Natural Resources Management Plan for MCAS Miramar, the MCAS Miramar EA for Implementing MCAS Miramar Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) (2011 - 2015) is available for public review until September 15, 2010. The document can be downloaded at the Miramar INRMP Web Page, or it is available at the following libraries: 1) MCAS Miramar Library, 2) Mira Mesa Branch Library, 3) Scripps Miramar Ranch Branch Library, 4) University Community Branch Library, 5) Tierrasanta Branch Library and 6) San Diego Main Library. The last summer amphitheater concert of 2010 at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center will be on Saturday, July 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The concert will feature NRG, a Rock and Roll Dance Band. The Town Center Website says, “Put on your dancing shoes, grab your special someone and join the fun in the Amphitheater on Saturday evenings in July. Enjoy good food from one of our many eateries and restaurants during the concerts.” You can also visit the NRG Band website at nrgband.com.

The City of San Diego Website has a great page of maps that show all the open space parks in the City. You can visit the Open Space Canyons and Parklands Maps page to see information on Gonzales Canyon to our North, and Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve to our South. There is also a Main Open Space Parks page which has additional information on the parks, including programs, rules and information links. If you’re interested in the San Dieguito River Park, you’ll have to go to the River Park page, as the San Dieguito River Park is a joint project between the City of San Diego, County and a number of other cities in the area.

The California Department of Transportation has just released the Draft Environmental Report for the I-5 North Coast Corridor Freeway Widening Project. The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board will meet on Thursday, July 22, 7:00 PM at the Carmel Valley Library. Note that the new meeting date is the Fourth Thursday of the month. Agenda items include: Neighborhood 10 (south of SR-56) access easements, two cell sites (at Hartfield and at Beth Am), the Grand Del Mar open space grading issue, and the Flower Hill Promenade redevelopment. The Del Mar Highlands Town Center will host a Concert this Saturday, July 17, featuring the Kevin Cameron Band (modern country western). 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Amphitheater. Also, the LAST Summer Parks Concert of the year will be on Sunday, July 18! The Summer Serenades concert will feature the Corvettes (Best of the 50’s and 60’s) at Solana Highlands Park (High Bluff off of Del Mar Heights Road.) Bring a blanket or low beach chair and enjoy an evening of wonderful music in the park!

The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 6:30 PM at the Carmel Valley Library (3919 Townsgate Drive). The agenda contains a single item: to consider being a signatory (through the Chair) to the San Diegans for Responsible Neighborhood Planning’s community letter in support of amending Prop M.

There will be a Pacific Highlands Ranch (PHR) Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) meeting on Thursday July 8 at 7 pm at the Airoso rec center (6135 Galante Place San Diego, CA 92130). The meeting will be in the media room (the smaller one to the left once you enter the main entrance). The MAD meetings are to discuss landscape maintenance in the public areas (street medians, etc.) of the community.
